JOVITA LUNA with Sexteto Mayor from the Original Cast Recording of Tango Argentino |
CASTELLANO | ENGLISH |
I was the prettiest girl of my neighborhood
I got my education in a catholic convent and even though my parents didn't have much money I grew up around well-to-do families. Because of that well-to-do environment my only illusion was to be a well-to-do girl and completely forgetting my past I surrendered my heart to a tycoon. Because of his looks and distinguished manners and the things he lied into my ears I couldn't believe that he could be so bad such a correct and educated guy. However, the bad man lured me with promises of marriage, to leave behind my home to go live with him. And that's why my life goes by between the cabaret's tango and champagne; my pain is confused with my laugh because I got used to laugh at my pain And if I run into some idiot that pretends to get my love with his gold I leave him without a penny to teach him a lesson I make him pay for what the other one made me suffer. Today I dance the tango, I'm a milonguera they call me loose and what have you; I'm a flower of the mud, a nobody because of the man who deceived me. Among the thousand colors lights and the joy of the cabaret I sell caresses and I sell love to forget the one who went away |
